“ Coming from a non-traditional background, I was looking for a school that offered exceptional experiential learning opportunities. MAP set Ross apart from the other schools I was considering because it offers a chance to tackle a real business problem before starting my internship. I know that this will provide a valuable opportunity to apply skills from my previous career and learn new skills from my peers that will help me be successful during my internship and beyond. It also offers a chance to gain experience in a different industry or with a different company than the one I do my internship with, creating a more well-rounded MBA experience.

“ When I applied to schools, I was focused exclusively on programs where I could pursue a dual degree in environmental studies alongside the business curriculum. I was looking for business schools that would see a lot of value in having students bring perspectives from other schools within the university and would help me navigate the difficulty of juggling two degrees.
Luckily for me, I learned about Michigan's Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise, a partnership between Ross and the School for Environment and Sustainability whose mission is to create a socially and environmentally sustainable world through the power of business. Those that aren't able to commit to a dual-degree program also have the opportunity to pursue a Sustainability concentration within the Ross curriculum (there are also several other concentrations and dual-degree programs supported by Ross). To me, all these opportunities signal Ross's strong commitment to sustainability and to diverse points of view. The Erb Institute has been a great fit for me both academically and culturally!

“ Supportive is the best describes the Michigan Ross students. every single person I have met throughout this process has shown a selfless willingness to help and encourage others. Their support has only grown as I began the challenging and competitive process of early recruiting. “ Ross cares a lot about intersecting business with social impact. Through its centers, institutes, initiatives, and course offerings, I saw that Ross was providing the necessary resources to truly lead the way in making business a force for positive and social good. Just to name a few things that stood out to me – Business + Impact, +Impact Studio, Social Venture Fund, Nonprofit Board Fellows, and Social Innovation Series. Coming from a nontraditional, nonprofit background, this spoke to my hopes of creating a bridge between the private, public, and nonprofit sectors for the betterment of society. Ross was the only school that made me feel like they could provide a safe and resource-filled space for me to explore my goals for social impact.

“ As I was preparing to submit my MBA applications, my partner was working on her own apps for programs in sustainability. Since we were committed to attending the same school, Michigan stood out as one of the few universities with top-ranked business and sustainability programs. We were ecstatic when I received my offer from Ross and my partner was admitted to the Erb Institute (Michigan's dual degree program between Ross and the School for Environment and Sustainability). As I learned more about Erb, both from my partner and other Erbers, I realized that I wanted to join this unique community myself. I'm excited to apply to Erb this winter as a mid-year applicant and hopefully work with and learn from students and alums who share my interest in business and sustainability.
