We are pleased to share that the English language requirement for all our diploma programs has been adjusted to
IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 (or equivalent). This brings the diploma requirement in line with our Foundation
Program (Standard) requirement.For more detail, and to see IELTS equivalents, please visit our website.
New English language module 新的英语语言模块
To provide our international students with the opportunity to practice, and build confidence in, their English language
skills while at Deakin College, we have introduced a new, free English language module to all our diploma programs.The Language Development Module consists of a mandatory 2-hour on-campus class each week during the student's
first trimester, as well as online activities for students to complete in their own time each week. Students will enrol in
the free module when they complete their enrolment at the start of their first trimester.Some students will be exempt from taking this module. Exemptions apply to students who:
● have completed a Deakin College or other Australian Foundation Program
● have an IETLS of 6.0 or above (or equivalent)
● are citizens of UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland
● have completed an Australian Year 12 or AQF Level 4 studies in the last 2 years
● have completed a minimum of 5 years of study in English in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Canada, Ireland
or South Africa
● have an IB English score of 4 or above
● have a GCE O/A Level score of ‘C’Students who do not receive an exemption will need to take this compulsory module.
